Notification

New Delhi, dated the 1^st August, 2006

 G.S.R.________ In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section 95 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 (44 of 1958), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Merchant Shipping (Recruitment and Placement of Seafarers) Rules, 2005, namely:- 

1.         (1) Short title and commencement. --- (1)  These rules may be called the Merchant Shipping (Recruitment and Placement of Seafarers) Amendment Rules, 2006. 

(2)  They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 

2.         In the Merchant Shipping (Recruitment and Placement of Seafarers) Rules, 2005, in rule 8, for the words "within one year" the words and figures "on or before 31^st December, 2006" shall be substituted.
