NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 7th November, 1997
S.O. 768 (E) :-- In pursuance of sub-rule (4) of
rule 2 of the Merchant Shipping (Load Line) Rules, 1979 and in
supersession of the notification of the Government of India in the
Ministry of Surface Transport (Shipping Wing) S.O. No.913(E) dated the
10th November, 1995, the Central Government hereby appoints
the Indian Register of Shipping, 72, Maker Tower,'F', 7th
Floor, Cuffe Parade, Mumbai-400005, as "Assigning Authority" for the
purposes of the said rules.

NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 7th November, 1997
S.O. 769(E):-- In pursuance of sub-section (1A)
of section 9 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958, (44 of 1958), and in
supersession of the notification of the Government of India in the then
Ministry of Transport and Shipping (Transport Wing) S.O. No.2267 dated
the 28th June 1967 on the subject of authorizing
Classification Societies to act on behalf of Government of India, for
certain matters, the Central Government hereby authorizes the
Classification Societies specified in the schedule annexed hereto to be
the surveyors to carry out survey of ships for the purpose of issue of
:
(a)
Cargo
Ship Safety Construction Certificates under sub-section (1) of section
299A;
(b)
Cargo
ship safety equipment certificates under section 300;
(c)
Cargo
Ship Safety Radio Telegraphy and Telephony certificates under section
301; and
(d)
International Load Line Certificates under section 316.
Of the said act, subject to the conditions stipulated in the agreements
to be entered between Government of India and the said Classification
Societies.
