It has come to the notice of the Directorate that the Quality Standard Certificate of some of the Maritime training institutes is not found valid at the time of inspection of the Institutes. It has also been observed that the Institute has not been taking seriously accreditation of quality system. SInce it is one of the essential requirements to ensure the quality of merchant navy training as per international standards, the Directorate General of Shipping has viewed it seriously. To ensure that all Institutes have the quality system in place and are being audited regularly by the Classification Society and keeping their quality standard certificate valid all times, the Director General of Shipping has directed that the approval of the Institute will lapse automatically on the expiry of quality standard certificate. Therefore, in veiw of above, all Institutes are to ensure that their Quality System Certificate remains valid throughout and audited regularly by the Classification Society.
This
order comes into force with effect from 1st September 2002.
All Institutes are to ensure that their Certificates are re-validated
before due date.
