Training Circular No. 6 of 2008

          Attention is invited to this Directorate M.S. Notice No. 11 of 2003 dated 12.05.2003, Training Circular No. 13 of 2005 dated 10.05.2005 and Training Circular No 3 of 2007 dated 25.05.2007 imposing restriction on new approval to G.P. Rating Course and Certificate Course in Maritime Catering for a period upto 11.05.2008.
 

2.        As on date 37 institutes are conducting courses for G.P. Rating and Certificate Course in Maritime Catering.  The issue of over capacity of training institutes for courses for G.P. Rating and Certificate Course in Maritime Catering has been reviewed and it is inferred  that there is oversupply of ratings in the market than jobs available internationally.

3.        In view of the above, it has been decided to continue the restriction  for a further period of 12 months w.e.f. 11^th May 2008 and no proposal from any new training institute shall be entertained for fresh approval for courses of G.P. Rating and Certificate Course in Maritime Catering

4.        Similarly, no proposal for augmentation in intake capacity in GP Rating Course and Certificate Course in Maritime Catering shall be entertained from any of the existing training institute.

5.         The above instruction comes into force with immediate effect from 11^th May 2008 shall be valid for a further period of 12 months.  The position shall be again reviewed and ascertaining the market conditions and the Industry's requirement during the above period.

6.         Feedback from Registered Manning agents of INSA/MASSA/FOSMA/DPS, if any, may kindly be furnished in the following format only, latest by 30.06.2008.

7.         This issues with the approval of Director General of Shipping and Ex officio Additional Secretary to the Govt. of India.
