The draft Training Circular for conduct of GP Rating course was discussed on numerous occasions  with various stakeholders including some of the  training institutes.  The same was put up on DGS website with a request for feedback.  We have received comments and suggestions which have been incorporated to the extent possible.  
       Based on the feedback received and discussion held with industry and training institutes, the final guidelines have been approved by the competent authority.  Emphasis has been placed on more intense "practical training" of ratings so that our ratings will be readily employed on board ships. The training period has been increased from 4 months to 6 months for this course. 
       These guidelines shall come into force w.e.f 1^st April, 2004.
       This has approval of Director General of Shipping & ex. Officio Addl. Secretary to Govt. of India.
