Further to this Directorate SD Circular No.
2 of 2007, ( No. SD-9/CHRT(82)/97-III dated 20.4.2007) and
SD Circular No. 4 of 2006 dated
27.12.2006, a procedure for online approval for Specified Period of
Licence under Section 406 & 407 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 has,
now, been developed. Accordingly, applicants wishing to engage a foreign
flag vessel under a Specified Period License are required to submit the
application online with complete details including details of issue and
validity of relevant certificates etc. and also to certify that all
information contained in the check list has been verified by the
applicants against the certificates held by the ship or as submitted by
the ship owner and that all such information submitted is true and correct
to the best of their knowledge and belief, with full knowledge of the
consequences of any error or misrepresentation as per the provisions of
the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958.
All applicants would, however need to submit / enclose
:-
1. The
proof of payment of fees prescribed through DD / NEFT / RTGS No. and date
with a signed print out of the on line application.
2. All
relevant copies of appropriate certificates and documentations as required
for the vessel to the Directorate General of Shipping.
3. Authority
letter from the ship owners / charterers in case the work is done through
agent.
It is reiterated that incomplete application in any
respect will be rejected.
This issues with the approval of the Competent
Authority.
