Subject : Amendments of Ship Security Plan (SSP)

In accordance with Section 9.4 of Part A of the ISPS Code, the Ship Security Plans (SSP) have been approved by the Directorate.  The approval was granted based on the scrutiny of the plan and after ensuring compliance with the plans in respect to Section 9.4 Part A of the ISPS Code.

           The Directorate is in receipt of many requests for the amendment of the plan within 3 to 4 months of its approval, which clearly indicates that ab-initio due prudence was not exercised in preparation of the plan.

            The Shipowners, Company Security Officers and the Ship Managers intending to amend the Ship Security Plan should furnish necessary explanation for each revision/amendment for consideration of the same. 

The proposed amendment shall be forwarded alongwith explanation and the approved Ship Security Plan for corelation and evaluation.  The request for amendments to the Ship Security Plan shall be accompanied with the documents as stated in Para 3 above and the fee through a payment of Rs. 5,000/- payable to Director General of Shipping, Mumbai. 

The amended pages should clearly indicate issue, revision, status alongwith the date of revision.  The amended pages shall be endorsed by the Directorate.  Substantial amendments may require an audit and verification of the process on board the vessel. 

The record of the amendments shall be maintained on the board the Ship and the Ship’s SSP shall have duly authenticated copies of the amendments. 

The above guidelines shall be followed with immediate effect.
