          I am directed to refer to the subject matter and enclose herewith, approved survey /inspection checklists, in order to bring in uniformity on the cited subject.

The survey/inspection of sailing vessels and fishing vessels will be carried out by the MMD as follows:-

1.             For Sailing Vessels: In compliance of MS (Sailing Vessels) Rules, 1997, the surveyor shall use inspection report attached as SV (Annex-'A') and ('B').

2.             For Fishing Vessels: In compliance of MS (Fishing Boat Inspection) Rules, 1988, the surveyor shall use inspection report attached as FV (Annex-'A') for vessels of 20 meters or more in length. In case vessel is less than 20 meters. in length and therefore, exempted from requirements of MS (LSA) Rules, 1991 or MS (FFA) Rules, 1990, LSA and FFA items listed in FV (Annex- 'B') only need be complied with at the time of measurement and carving / marking verification during Registration.

2. Fishing Vessel Inspection checklists -FV (Annex-'A') for > 20m or FV (Annex- 'B') for < 20m.
