Subject : Amendment to NT Branch Circular No.NT/ISPS/SHIP/09/2004

             

1.       Reference is invited to NT Branch Circular No. NT/ISPS/SHIP/09/2004 dated 10th October 2004.
 

2.       Annex 1 of the circular states that the Ship Security Officer (SSO) need not be certified but trained by Company Security
Officer (CSO) for the following categories of vessels operating on Indian coast:
 

 

1.1        Coastal vessels between GT 500 and GT 3000.

1.2        Vessels less than GT 500 but more than GT 300 on the coast.

1.3        Also, for the vessel between 300 to 500GT operating in IV limits, the requirement of SSO was not considered necessary.
 

3.       Based on the feedback received and experience gained during large number of verifications carried out in last two months of
coastal vessels above decision has now been reviewed.
 

 

4.       It has been now decided that all SSOs engaged onboard the vessels specified in paragraph 2.1 & 2.2 above should be
trained as ISPS Code Part A/13.2 and Part B/13.1 and 13.2 from training institutions duly approved by the Directorate for
conducting such course.

 

       1.4        Vessels 300 to 500 GT should also engage an officer who has successfully passed SSO course from approved training institution. 

     5.  This amendment would come into force with effect from 1st April 2006.
