Hard Covers are now being issued to candidates for
all grades of Masters and Mates examinations after six
months of obtaining the letter of authority.
The Ship Owners, Masters, Agents and candidates are
hereby advised that in order to obtain Hard Cover
Certificate of Competency, the application in a
prescribed format is required to be duly completed and
submitted to this Directorate. The Hard Cover
Certificate will be prepared by the Directorate and
despatched to any of the Mercantile Marine Departments
or Embassies/Consulates as desired by the candidates
for issuance by respective Mercantile Marine
Departments or Embassies/Consulates within 15 days
from the date of receipt of the application.
The
format of the application is enclosed.
It may be noted that validity of letter of authority
issued to Masters & Mates certification will be
limited to 12 months only from the date of issue
effective from 1st July, 1998.An endorsement to this
effect will be made on all letters of authority issued
after 1st July, 1998. All candidates are required to
collect their Hard Cover Certificates prior to expiry
of the letter of authority as no further extension of
letters of authority will be permitted.
