Monitoring of the ship board training placement performance of different training institutions is a vital requirement for the career of the candidates as well as assessing the performance of the institute. Hence, Merchant Shipping Notice No . 28 of 2011 dated 18.11.2011 was issued restricting the validity of the Continuous Discharge Certificate -cum -Seafarers' Identity Document (CDC) to a limited period of 2 years. The purpose of the above said M. S. Notice was to start the issuance of the such limited period CDCs immediately, so that an effective monitoring can be started henceforth. However, para 6 of the above notice stipulates issuance of the limited period CDC for presea courses started after July 2011 onwards which allows issuance of the regular CDC to a section of presea candidates who are undergoing long term presea courses started before July 2011 but completing after 2012 and so on. The following corrigendum, is therefore, issued in the Merchant Shipping Notice No. 28 of 2011 to overcome the above anomaly, mutatis-mutants [other things remaining the same]. 2. Corrigendum 2.1. Existing provision : 2.1.1. Para 6 : This M.S. Notice come into effect with effect for the issuance of CDCs to the candidates undergoing the above pre sea courses starting after July 2011 onwards. 2.2 To read as; 2.2.1. Para 6 : This M.S. Notice comes into effect for the issuance of CDCs to the candidates undergoing the above pre sea courses which are due for completion on 31.12.11 and onwards. 3. The M. S. Notice No. 28 of 2011 dated 18.11.11 otherwise remains unchanged.
