In
M.S. Notice
No. 15 of 2003, following 6 institutes were short-listed to conduct
the above said course.
i) LBS CAMSAR, Mumbai
ii) Marine Engineering & Research Institute, Kolkata
iii) Maritime Training Institute, Mumbai
iv) Indian Register of Shipping, Mumbai
v) National Institute of Port Management, Chennai
vi) Indian Institute of Port Management, Kolkata.
In view of to expand the number of competent institutes/ organisations,
the matter has again been reviewed and following additional organization/institutes
have been short-listed to be allowed to conduct such courses , provided
they apply to DGS for approval after satisfying all laid down norms for
approval of courses.
1. American Bureau of Shipping (ABS)
2. Lloyd's Register of Shipping (LRS)
3. Det Norske Veritas (DNV)
4. Naval Maritime Academy
IRS, ABS, LRS & DNV are permitted to conduct these courses at only
one of their own premises or on the premises of the DGS approved institutes,
one each at Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.
Approval for courses conducted by classification societies in the premises
of other approved institutes will be in the name of the respective classification
and they would be fully responsible for ensuring compliance with D.G.S.
guidelines even after approval.
One time Processing Fee for above three course has been fixed as Rs. 50,000/-
per type of course per institute.
It is also clarified that in case the candidate undertakes the course
from an un-approved institute and desires to work later on Indian flag
vessel, such candidate will have to undergo the course approved by DGS.
It would be therefore desirable that the candidate does the course from
an approved institute only. List of such approved institutes may be obtained
from DGS website or verified from the approval letter issued to such organization/institute
by Directorate.
This M.S. Notice is being issued in partial modification
of M.S. Notice no. 15 of 2003 dt. 19.06.2003 and should be read with M.S.
Notice 15 of 2003.
