     It is seen that permission for starting Maritime Training Institute is sought by application on sole proprietorship or partnership basis, Pvt. Ltd., or Ltd., Companies. To ensure equity and transparency, it has been decided that Training institutes/ Colleges should be approved only either as a registered public trust or a registered society whose objective should include educational purpose. This will also help to ensure that the quality of Training Institutes is maintained.

     Director General and Secretary to the Govt. of India is therefore pleased to direct that ,no application received in Directorate after 01.10.2002 for either a new Training or new Training Course shall be processed other than those received from the registered trust or registered society. The existing Institutes, which are not run by the registered trust or registered society shall have to convert themselves into a registered society or a registered trust within a period of one year from the date of issue of this MS notice.
