From March 2000 onwards, no
application form need to be sent to DGS for assessment or approval
of specific cases. This includes Navy, Coast Guard and Merchant
Navy cases. Only specific clarifications regarding MEO Examination
1989 Rules and MEO Examination 1998 Rules (Meta Manual I & II)
need to be sought from the Directorate. In such cases reference
to existing rule / notification / instructions along-with dates
and file numbers must be clearly mentioned. In case of specific
relief or recommendation to be sought, it must be explicitly mentioned.
Where cases of rules in the Gazetted rule or Meta Manual I, II
are not clear, it must be brought to the notice of the Directorate.
Though a conscientious effort is being continuously made to give
directions on areas where the rule is not very clear, priority
areas can be identified only by the MMDs by nature of service,
qualifications etc. as made out in the application.
