With the commencement of MEO
Class IV Part B Examination in accordance with MEO 1998 rules
the eligibility of candidates appearing for the said examinations
and the options they can exercise are broadly outlined in DGS
Circular No. 11/98 and instruction to examiner circular 003 dated
24th Sep. 1999. The option for appearing under the MEO 1989 (Old)
Examinations Rules or choosing to appear under the MEO 1998 (New)
Examinations Rules should be exercised by the candidate only.
The following will also apply in addition to what has been prescribed
above.
1. Part passes in Class II Part
A and B (MEO 1989 Rules) may be accepted and credited towards
the corresponding subjects under Function 3, 4A, 4B, 5 of MEO
1998 examinations rules subjects of Class IV Part A & B.
2. Candidates who have not passed
any of the subjects of Class II examination under MEO 1989 examination
rules but have been declared eligible and appeared in the said
examinations can also exercise their option to appear in Class
IV under MEO1998 examination rules for the relevant functions
and papers under these.
3. Candidates who have already
passed all the subjects of Class II Part A, or are exempted from
it under MEO 1989 Examination Rules must be credited with the
same if they choose to appear in Part B of Class IV MEO 1998 Examination
Rules.
4. However such other requirements
as completion of Modular Courses, Preparatory Class and Pre-Sea
Training have to be complied with as applicable.
5. Details of functions are
as given below. These nomenclatures must be used for all future
correspondance.
