Issue of STCW
95 (Soft Cover) Certificate to the Candidates
The process of preparation of
old hard cover certificates (STCW 78) for successful candidates
of MEO Class I, II and IV is terminated from April 2000 onwards.
This was necessitated owing to the demand for new STCW 95 certificates
for which the workload has increased tremendously. During the
transition period, for those who have passed examination from
April 2000 onward till date, the EXN -16 issued would be considered
as the Certificate for purposes of revalidation, upgradation and
subsequent issue of STCW 95 certificate. The preparation of hard
cover certificates for all pending cases is also stopped. In such
cases also the EXN - 16 may be honoured for purposes mentioned
above. For all new (1998) examinations held for the months of
August onwards, you are requested not to issue any EXN - 16 but
forward the copies of EXN - 3 Form 15, on a weekly basis along
with enclosures such as all his answer sheets and the orals marks
clearly indicated. (on the application form, along with copies
of submissions such as Upgradation Certificate, STCW Modular Course
Certificates and Annex I of EXN - 3 (Form 15) in cases of upgradation.)
The EXN -15R, EXN - 37BC, Form 15, Form 1 and Form 2 of the month
must be sent as soon as the examination process for the month
is completed and certainly prior to the start of the next months
examination so as to enable this office to prepare the STCW 95
Certificate for issue. The Circular may be given immediate effect
to ensure the timely delivery of the STCW 95 (Soft cover) Certificates
to the deserving candidates.
