Attached herewith International Maritime Organization’s guidelines for maintenance and inspections of fixed carbon dioxide fire extinguishing systems. As a minimum, the maintenance and inspection plan as stipulated in the attached circular may be followed. However, the fire extinguishing system manufacturer's inspection plan is also required to be followed, in case, the maintenance and inspection plan is over and above the minimum as specified in the IMO guidelines.

            Further, the intervals at which the CO₂ pipelines are to be pressure tested, are specified in paragraph 3 of Engineering Circular No.17 dated 8^th October, 2003 and same needs to be adhered to.

            This issues with the approval of the Chief Surveyor with the Government of India.
