Engineering  Circular No. 53

NO: ENG/MISC-29(32)/2003

Dated 15th June,2005

Sub: Reporting alleged inadequacy of ports reception facilities

The Directorate has forwarded a circular No. ENG/MISC-29(32)/2003 dated 15.10.2004 enclosing therewith MEPC Circular No. 349 along with its annex on the subject: 'Revised consolidated format for reporting alleged inadequacy of port reception facilities' to Chairman of all  major ports in India, Indian Shipowners Association  (INSA) and subordinate offices of this Directorate requesting to disseminate  the revised format to Masters of all ships calling at Indian ports and also to forward the reports received from ships to this Directorate with their comments. However, no report has been received so far.  The Directorate feels that some shipowners, ship operators and Masters of the ships are not fully aware of such reporting system.

With a view to bring to the notice of all concerned, the above referred MEPC circular along with its annex is attached.  Master of all ships are encouraged to use the format to report any alleged inadequacy of port reception facilities to the nearest office of the Mercantile Marine Department for further necessary action.

This issues with the approval of Chief Surveyor with the Government of India.

Yours faithfully,
