 Sir,

            Enclosed please find IMO approved guidelines to assist Port State Control Officers & Flag State Surveyors for checking the structure of bulk carriers, during there inspection.  The guideline pinpoints the vulnerable areas within the structure, in particular of older ships. 

This may be circulated to all the surveyors of the department for compliance.  The copy of the circular along with enclosures is also hosted on the Directorate General of Shipping, website i.e. www.dgshipping.com.

This circular issues with the approval of the Chief Surveyor with the Government of India.
