Subject:- Unified Interpretations to Resolution MEPC.159(55)

          Further to Engineering Circular No. 120/2010, IMO has issued unified interpretation in MEPC 56/23 (Annex 17) to resolution MEPC.159(55). The same is re-produced below for information and compliance.
           " For application of resolution MEPC.159(55), the phrase "installed on board a ship on or after 1 January 2010"  shall be interpreted as follows: 

1. For new ships, installations on board ships the keels of which are laid or which are at a similar stage of construction on or after 1 January 2010.

2. For existing ships, new installations with a contractual delivery date to the ship on or after 1 January 2010 or, in the absence of a contractual delivery date, the actual delivery of the equipment to the ship on or after 1 January 2010."

This issue with the approval of the Chief Surveyor with the Govt. of India.
