1. A Committee was set up by the Director- General of Shipping to
review the existing fees structure prescribed by the DGS Circular No.
1 of 1997 of even file number dtd. 30.06.1997 for approval of plans and
miscellaneous surveys/ inspections carried out by MMD/ DGS Surveyors.
The Committee was directed to submit a proposal on rationalisation of
the fees structure after taking into account the actual time required
for completion of each type of survey/ approval of plan, the size of the
ships, increase in costs from the last revision of fees (i.e.30th June
1997) etc. The recommendations of the Committee were, thereafter, discussed

Societies. After duly considering these inputs , the Director- General
of Shipping has decided to amend the existing fees structure. The revised
fee is enclosed to this Circular as an
Annexure.
3. The prescribed fee does not include the expenses incurred by the surveyors on TA/DA , wherever applicable and they should be recovered on the basis of actuals or full arrangements be made as per Government scale applicable to such officers by the parties needing service . 4. This order supersedes the DGS Circular No. 1 of 1997 of even file number dtd 30.06.1997.
5. The revised fees structure comes into effect from
