Sub: Merchant Shipping (Recruitment & Placement of Seafarers) Rules,2005 - Processing of application
 

   

          As per rule 4 (3) of the Merchant Shipping (Recruitment & Placement of Seafarers) Rules, 2005 an application for issue of licence is required to be accompanied with the following:-
a)     a declaration in Form-III; 
b)     a fee for twenty thousand rupees drawn in favour of the concerned Director, SEO by way of crossed demand draft; 
c)     a copy of the employment contract entered into between the employer and the seafarer; 
d)     a statement of qualification and experience of the management personnel in Form-VIII; 
e)     a copy of the agreement between the recruitment and placement service and the employer or the ship owner as the case may be, 
  in Form IX;
 
            f)      such number of bank guarantees as required under sub-rule (12). 
 
         In view of the above, the SEO offices at Mumbai/Kolkatta/Chennai are required to ensure that the proposals  for 
authorisations  forwarded  to  this  Directorate   must
necessarily have all the above mention documents and a satisfactory report from the inspection authority in order to enable the Director General to grant the authorisation.

           Kindly note that all the clauses in the rules are satisfactorily complied with before any proposal for authorisation is forwarded.
